1. Agreement to Terms

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent you have authority to bind it.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 to use the Service.

3. The Service

FedResearch provides tools to access, search, view, and analyze public-domain U.S. government documents, plus AI-assisted features. We may add, remove, or modify features at any time.

4. Accounts and Security

You must provide accurate information and keep credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We may suspend accounts to protect the Service or users.

5. Subscriptions, Fees, and Taxes (If Applicable)

If you purchase a paid plan:

  • Fees are billed as disclosed at purchase and may be recurring.
  • No refunds except where required by law or explicitly stated in a written refund policy.
  • You are responsible for applicable taxes.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law, infringe rights, or misuse government/public content in unlawful ways
  • Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities; bypass access controls
  • Scrape/crawl/harvest without written permission
  • Interfere with Service performance
  • Reverse engineer the Service (except where prohibited by law)
  • Use AI outputs to violate rights or law

We may investigate violations and suspend/terminate accounts.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our IP

The Service software, UI, indexing, search configuration, AI orchestration, and non-public features are owned by FedResearch and licensors.

7.2 Public Domain Documents

U.S. federal government documents are generally public domain in the U.S. However, our selection, organization, indexing, and presentation may be protected to the extent allowed by law.

7.3 License to You

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for lawful purposes, subject to these Terms.

8. Your Content; Feedback

  • You retain rights to content you submit (e.g., queries, prompts).
  • You grant FedResearch a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and display your submitted content solely to provide and improve the Service, enforce Terms, and maintain safety.
  • Feedback you provide may be used without restriction or compensation.

9. AI Features; No Professional Advice

AI outputs may be inaccurate. You are responsible for verifying information against primary sources.

THE SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL, TAX, FINANCIAL, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

10. Third-Party Services

Third-party services (including government sites and cloud/AI providers) may be involved. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service anytime. We may suspend/terminate access at any time for any reason, including for risk, abuse, legal compliance, or violation of these Terms. Sections intended to survive (IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, dispute terms, etc.) will survive.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." We disclaim warranties to the fullest extent allowed by law.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive damages, loss of profits/revenue/data/goodwill.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $0 if you paid nothing).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so limits apply to the extent permitted.

14. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold FedResearch harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of law/rights.

15. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration; Class Waiver

U.S. users: This section is intended to be enforceable under U.S. law.

15.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing, you agree to contact legal@fedresearch.co and allow 30 days to attempt resolution.

15.2 Binding Individual Arbitration (U.S. Only / Where Enforceable)

Except for excluded claims, disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its rules (streamlined where applicable). Venue: Raleigh, NC or remote video at the arbitrator's discretion.

15.3 Class Action Waiver

You and FedResearch agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, not as a class/representative action, to the extent permitted by law.

15.4 Exceptions

Either party may seek:

  • Small claims relief (if eligible)
  • Injunctive/equitable relief for IP infringement or security misuse
  • Any claim that cannot legally be arbitrated

15.5 EU/UK/EEA Consumer Carve-Out

If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, nothing in these Terms deprives you of mandatory protections of your local consumer law, including rights to bring disputes in local courts where required, and arbitration/class waiver provisions apply only to the extent enforceable.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by North Carolina law, excluding conflict-of-law rules—except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country/state of residence apply.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
